Jessica HellmanSpeech Language PathologisttJessica Hellman, a speech-language pathologist, received her Master of Science Degree in Communication Disorders at the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University. After graduating, she worked for the New York City public school system, assessing and treating school age children with learning disabilities and those at risk for reading failure. Following this experience, she began providing treatment for school age children with autistic spectrum disorders and the early childhood population. Since early adolescence, Jessica has always wanted to live in Southern California. She made this dream happen when she moved from her hometown, Brooklyn, NY to San Diego in September 2006. Here in California, Jessica has continued to broaden her experience assessing and treating school age children with communication disorders, including treatment of deficits in receptive and expressive language, phonology, articulation, auditory processing, and socialpragmatic language skills. This experience enlightened Jessica to realize that children who struggle with language processing would have great difficulty in their oral and written language skills. She also became aware of the vast frequency of articulation disorders that are caused by oral motor deficits. Jessica’s experience and knowledge motivated her to join JKS & Associates where she can continue to treat children with language literacy and speech impairments as well as orofacial myofunctional disorders. |
