Audrey FigueiredoSpeech Language PathologistWhile Audrey Figueiredo was born and raised in the L.A. area, she has recently made San Diego her home. Post High School, Audrey moved from Southern California to Oahu to further her education and play a little volleyball along the way. In attending Chaminade University of Honolulu, Audrey double majored. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Bachelor’s degree in Historical Political Studies and minored in Sociology. Not quite ready to leave the islands, Audrey worked for a private agency as a Developmental Interventionist (specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis) for a year before returning home to California to pursue a Master’s degree. She then attended California State University of Long Beach (CSULB), where she earned a third Bachelor’s Degree in Communicative Disorders, followed by a Master’s Degree in Communicative Disorders. At CSULB, Audrey received a multi-faceted education which entailed training in such areas as, autism, child language, phonology, adult language, aural rehabilitation, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), fluency, and with culturally and linguistically diverse populations. While attending CSULB, Audrey worked at a preschool in Santa Monica as a Developmental Interventionist as well as a SLPA (Speech Language Pathology Assistant). It was here that Audrey received extensive training in Floortime (a play-based and child-centered intervention approach) and an even deeper understanding of a child’s overall development. Through school, work and life experiences Audrey has been afforded the opportunity to work with a wide range of people, including adults, children and their families. She has evaluated, developed and implemented therapy plans for clients with autism, Retts Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, fluency disorders, Prader-Willi Syndrome, phonological disorders, and overall developmental delays. Freshly educated with all the latest and greatest evidence based techniques, Audrey is excited to be a member of Jodie Schuller & Associates and looks forward to meeting and working with new clients and their families. |
