Barbara WoodsonSpeech Language PathologistBarbara Woodson is a California licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with more than 32 years experience successfully serving the needs of children and adults with communication deficits. Barbara earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology from Pennsylvania State University and her Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology from The University of Michigan. Upon graduation, Barbara worked for two years at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey. She then moved to California and worked in the counties of Marin, Los Angeles and San Diego, evaluating and treating children in public school, home, and private practice settings, working individually and in the classroom. Barbara has provided services in the areas of autism spectrum disorders, verbal childhood apraxia of speech, Down syndrome, articulation, phonological disorders, language delays, literacy and fluency. She has been repeatedly recognized by administrators for running highly effective, yet individualized and dynamic programs. While working for San Diego Unified School District, Barbara was selected as a Senior Speech Pathologist to support and mentor her colleagues. In respectful recognition of each client’s wants and needs, Barbara strives to create a warmly supportive atmosphere to help them achieve their communication goals in a functional and meaningful way. She enjoys collaborating with parents and other professionals while implementing procedures based on best practices and current methodologies. In her free time, Barbara enjoys reading, bossa nova jazz, travel and wine tasting. |
