Kathy Kendrick, B.A.
Kathy is the daughter of a US Navy pilot, and she lived many places during her early years. At the age of 11, her family moved to San Diego, where her father eventually retired. After high school, Kathy attended UC San Diego as a Linguistics Major and then graduated from San Diego State University with a BA Degree in Communicative Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology)
Kathy chose to stay home with her three sons for more than 20 years while working part-time positions in education and as an advocate for special needs individuals. She experienced a variety of educational settings via her primary occupation as a full-time homeschooling mom and by pursuing a continuing education certificate as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA).
Kathy currently serves as a Literary Specialist at JKS and Associates. She has extensive experience working with all types of children, ranging from gifted to neuro-atypical individuals. Her expertise is in adapting her teaching style to the needs of the individual students and developing cooperative relationships with them.
Kathy graduated SDSU with honors, Magna Cum Laude, and has continued to achieve academic excellence in her educational pursuits. She is planning to earn her Master’s Degree in Education within the next two years. Ultimately, her most prized award is the “Best Mom Ever” plaque received from her son.
Kathy’s free time revolves around her family. She has three grown sons with whom she spends time whenever their schedules permit. She currently lives with her elderly mother in Bonita, sharing caregiving activities with her sister, who also resides there. She is passionate about American Sign Language, musical theater and involvement with her faith community. She enjoys traveling and checking things off her bucket list. She continues to provide respite care to families of developmentally disabled individuals through Home of Guiding Hands in El Cajon.
